This work depicts the landscape of Lahaina on the Hawaiian island of Maui. In the 19th century, it was the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and flourished as a home port for whaling vessels. People from Japan and other countries around the world came to live and work there. After World War II, it thrived as a center of marine art along with the development of the tourism industry. However, most of the community was burned down in the great wildfire that struck in August 2023. Yuki Harada engaged in research activities based on Lahaina, and produced this work while envisioning the Lahaina of the distant future.

本作は、ハワイ・マウイ島のラハイナを題材にしたランドスケープ作品。19世紀にハワイ王国の首都となり、捕鯨船の母港として栄えたラハイナには、日系人をはじめとする世界各地から労働者が移り住んだ。戦後には観光業の発展とともに「マリンアートの聖地」として栄えるも、2023年8月の大火によって町の大半が焼失してしまった。ラハイナを拠点にリサーチを行っていた原田は、遠い未来のラハイナを思い描きながら本作を制作した。
